Since this is my first attempt in breeding/spawning fish, I was wanting to know if there was any tips I could use.
Im going to be using a 10g tank to house all of my cpd. Questions I would like answers are:

Do I need to use a different filter or can i just a attach a sponge to my current filter?

Also I read a thread where you could make an egg catcher i guess its called out of a glass baking tray, is this pretty effective?

    Plants and substrate a must?

Any other advice is welcome, thanks.

I suggest setting up a separate when breeding. A sponge air filter will be more than enough. When selecting the fish for breeding i suggest a ratio of three females to one male. A egg catcher is a must if you don’t want any of your eggs to be eaten by the parents as they are known to be notorious egg eaters. Make sure the tank is planted preferably with java moss. I have had great success with Ricca tied to rocks. Every week i would just pick up the rock and shake it in a small containers and eggs would just fall out. But once you see egg you should just remove the parents and put them back in the main tank and leave the other tank to raise the frys. Hope this helps.
