    Yesterday I was cleaning my tank when I saw a dead CPD against my filter.
    I thought it was dead because of the filter but few minutes later I see another CPD that swim very strangely : very quickly with long stand. its fin were “closed” and it looked like very bad health… :(
    I observe it for minutes and it finaly finish by convulsing and upside down… :(
    I decided to end his suffering…
    Day before, my neritina snail died too…
    I suspected water parameters and decided to check immediatly :
    PH = 7.6 KH=6 NH3=0 NO2=0 NO3=5 mg/l ppm Fe=0.1 PO4=0 T°=24°C

    One other female CPD seems to be weird : it swims with caudal fin closed, dorsal and anal fin close to the body and is very nervous.

    I began to fertilize my planted aquarium for three weeks now with Flourish Excel (0.5ml/day), Flourish (1ml/week) and Flourish Iron (1ml/week) and I have a CO2 DIY system.
    My question is about the Flourish Excel action. I read some negative experiences with fragile fishes with it.
    I stop to use it for few days to see if its behavior changes. All my PCD are very shy.
    Do you have experience with this strange CPD behavior ?

    I have lot of red cherry shrimps that are very healthy… Sometimes I see one going up like to catch something on the water surface. Is it possible to have a O2 deficiency with a well planted tank and a filter that makes waves ? No test to confirm.

    I’d be worried about the dosing seeing as you started recently. Some thing could be building up too much. Perhaps stop for a few days or cut back to half dose. Are you sure you have been using the right amount according to the volume of water in your tank(-glass, gravel, wood etc)? Small tanks are easy to overdose.

    I don’t know much about CPD from personal experience yet so some one else may have better advice.

    I don’t have any experience with the chemicals you mention, I do my best to stay away from adding chemicals to my tanks.

    I can say, it’s been my experience that CPD’s are much like most of the other Danios and are quite tough little fish. Other than fish that I have received that were weakened through shipping, I have suffered very little loss with my breeders or offspring.

    I stopped Flourish Excel for 5 days now.

    My weird female is always out of the school and others CPD seems to reject her. The female have fins close to her body and very nervous breath (but not quick) and moves very quickly with long stand period in the 1/3 upper of the tank.

    I show you a photo of this female with tipicaly position, should I take this female out of the tank ? Do you think it can be geneticaly disorder ? Do you see signs of disease ?

    It looks exactly like the new arrivals I lost recently. The clamped fins are more just a general sign of bad health or unhappiness I think and can have many causes, maybe some one else can help more. Hope she gets better.

    are these new fish then? Or have they been nice and happy until you started to add the new chemicals?

    Last update : I placed this fish in hospital tank and gave Methylene blue first and increased temperature. Nothing changed after 5 days.
    I change treatment for anti-worm/ich natural treatment and.. nothing…

    I decided to put the fish back in the regular tank. She is still alive and have difficulties to eat. I prepare food with garlic juice in case of worm.
    The strange thing is that this fish is still alive and I lost 3 others in my regular tank. I found a death fish (very thin) that could be the reason of the death of two of my CPD that were healthy and had no sign of disease after microscope observation. Maybe too many NH3 after the death I didn’t see and was in advanced state of decomposition.

    So in summary the first ill fish is still alive after treatment when 3 others (2 healthy and one thin) died for 2 weeks now… Results, I have 5 healthy CPD and one thin still alive from 12 CPD after 6 weeks…

    So you only got the fish 6 weeks ago? This sounds a lot like what I have been through with my new CPDs. I had one that held on for a long time too but in the end I put her down because she was getting worse. If they are new and were not in very good condition then I would guess it’s not that unusual to have problems like these, if you have had them for longer then I would be more worried.

    It certainly sounds like they have brought an illness with them! Good luck in the treatment
