Thought I’d share some photos of my little guys. I’ve had them for about a year now. They live in a planted 40 gallon community tank. They are not at all shy but move very quickly…it’s hard to get photos of them!

Hi Pauline welcome to the forum. Those are great pics. I still have not been able to capture a good image of mine yet.

Thanks to each of you. Do you have your CPDs in community or species only tanks?

Edit: Just looked at your links Dennis. I’m sure you don’t have yours in a community tank.

No, mine are in species only apart from the odd catfish and shrimp

Are they timid when kept in a species only tank? I’ve considered putting them in one of my nano tanks but I’d hate to lose the boldness they show in the community tank.

I’ve seen them both ways. Often a small group in a species tank is quite shy, but I’ve also had groups which were right in your face at feeding time. If you keep a large group, they are fearless.

Is there a reason you want to move them? If they are healthy and happy where they are, and you are enjoying them, leave them.

By the way, I have several tanks where my CPD’s are in a community setting… it’s just a community of various Danio species.

Yes, they are healthy and happy where they are…which is why I had second thoughts about moving them. I’ve set up a nano tank and thought I could see them better in there. I’ll just leave the little guys where they are and do something else with the nano.

    Thanks Dennis.

You could try trapping eggs and use the nano to raise some CPD fry.
