Hi everyone i have some questions about setting up a planted tank for my Danios:
Firstly if i buy some plants for my aquarium for an aquatic shop, could i just put the plant straight to my aquarium without planting it, i mean just put the plant into the aquarium with the pot that came with it as i just have gravel not soil.
Secondly would the plants need any requirements after that?
Finally i am getting some guppies soon would my pearl danios get on well with them?

Guppys and CPDs will get on just fine.

Your plants will need some additional nutrients to survive. They will also need enough light.

You can and should remove the plants from their pots; remove any lead weight and plant them deep into the gravel (gravel is fine for many aquatic plants. Also be aware there are some plants that you don’t plant into the gravel like anubias and java ferns – these are best tied to a bit of bog wood or stone.)

The best thing you can do for low mantainance plants is add some root tabs and then use a good liquid fert every other day or 3 times weekly (TPN+ is excellent).

I agree with Katch, but i’ll add write down the name of the plants you want and do your homework on them first. You have low light and high light plants. Plants need to take in nutrients (mostly nitrates) from the water. Some need to be planted in the substrate, some don’t. Consider using root tabs to plant them if you don’t have inverts in the tank.

they love a planted tank! Mine love java moss but beware as the odd one can sometimes get caught up in the moss
