Right I have found lots of cpd frys in my tank 30+ and they are 2 days old. I have not separated them form the parents because I do not have another tank with a thermostat and a filter. I have another tank but without any equipment. So put my 3 cpd adults in a plastic bag (when I bought the fish they put the fish in there so I can take it home). The filter sprays water out so I put the part where the waters comes from inside the plastic bag and I also dipped half of the bag in so some water can come in and go. Would this be safe I mean would the 3 adults die. They are getting clean water from the filter. But the only worry is that even though I have a thermostat in the tank when I put my hand into the plastic bag the top was the right temperature but when I got to the bottom it got a little colder so would they die from that. I am only putting them in there for a maximum of 22 hours beucase then i can catch my fry as they are swimming properly then. Can you please tell me if it would be safe or not.

I would move the adults into the tank without a filter & heater before trying to keep them in a bag.

I keep most of my CPD’s in unheated tanks and they do just fine with temperatures in the winter months going down into the 60’s F.

Use some of the water from the tank they are in now to start filling the other tank. Then monitor the water quality until you can get some sort of bio-filter started.

    Good luck!
