Hi! My first posting …here goes :D

I have approx (lost count) 20 CPDs in a 10 gallon heavily planted cube which ive had for about 18 months now. The one issue i have which i can never seem to find the answer to is which filter is best for cpds? I have an internal filter running at approx 200lph… I decided the flow rate was a bit strong so i added a spray bar which seemed to bring the fish out of hiding a bit more but not as much a when its turned off  . Cleaning it also seems to stress out the fish due to removing and replacing it.

Can anyone recomend a canister / hob filter for a 10 gallon?

    Which filter do you use?

I use sponge filters, and add and remove them as I need to as well. Sometime I make extras toss them into tanls, so that when I add a new one, I can take 2 or 3 out of existing tanks and put them in the new ones.

Ive used sponge filters in the past for my fry tank, but how do you get round the mechanical filtration side of thing? I think what im really trying to do is avoid putting my hands in the tank too much as it stresses them out.

    Sponge filters here too!

I usually pop off the sponge and give them a quick squeeze when doing water changes. Quick, easy, not stressful at all.

I use a very small internal power filter for current and a sponge filter…never had any problems.

I use both hob and canister I use sponge on the intakes I also use floss on the outflow of the hobs(hanging it a couple of inches outside)it gets rid of the splashing sound and also directs the current straight down. I have never used sponges but I hear they are good. Personally I might consider using a filter that I could use carbon in with 20 fish in 10 gallon I wouldn’t worry too much about the brand(I use aquaclear because it is easy to put my own media in instead of buying inserts). I cut my own sponges to fit and buy anything else in bulk.
