Male protetive parenting, guarding nests

I was wondering if anyone else had noticed some territorial behaviour from the male Celestial pearl Danios, not the typical male-male agression, but after breeding behaviour with females and pursuing females aggressively, the male attempt breeding in a certain area.
After breeding the male then chases off not just other males from this area, but also all females, protecting the site where the eggs were sccattered.
Is this normal for a Danio or any egg scatterer to protect the eggs?

I would guess the male is happily protecting the eggs so that he can eat them all for himself! lol

I have noticed males apparently protect the area where eggs are laid and even chase all females away they kind of buzz around like a humming bird
