I have my original mature group of five and around 7 young fish from that group. I plan to put 5-6 fish into another tank to spawn then remove them. Should I use some of the orginal group of the new group of some of both groups?

IMHO I would try to keep the gene pool as fresh as possible. I am planing to obtaining some more CPDs so I can breed my fry when they ready.

I agree…I’m just paranoid about bringing in a disease.

That is true but you can always quarantine them for couple of weeks. Or find someone were you live who has CPDs so you can trade some fish with them, that’s what I’m gonna try to do, I hope I can find someone in my state…..

Tom, I wouldn’t get too hung-up on inbreeding. Pick your best 5 or 6 fish and go from there.

Thanks Dennis. I’ve got seven youngsters coming through at the moment. Two near adults from my first lot and my original five so not doing to badly really.

I agree with ball, from the literature I read a lot are found in small isolated pools which is why they end up being over collected in local areas, so they must have inbreeding naturally.

Yes it is, Microrasbora erythromicron. Very cool fish. They buzz around the tank like little humming birds.

Yes very nice fish. Never seen them for sale anywhere. You don’t breed them as well do you?

Well that was the plan when I first got them… just too many cool Danios in the que ahead of them :P

Here’s a list of the fish I’m currently working with…

At one time the Microrasbora erythromicron were also on the list, but I dropped them because they are not Danios.
