Can you tell me what to do? I have 5 CPD, 2 females and 3 males… i put them in breeding tank full of moss 5 days ago and they still didn’t spawn… water temp. is 19-20 C, there is a lot of floating plants to reduce light… How to get them to breed? please help

Mine have bred anywhere from 24° – 28°C, but I have heard of them breeding at 22°. Your water may be a little cold, but perhaps you read up on them and know that 19° – 20° is fine.

Other than possibly raising your water temperature slightly, I think you may just need to give them a little more time to get used to their surroundings — it sounds like you have everything set up well.

Their eggs are very small. If you pull the adults out in a couple of weeks, you may find that you have plenty of fry a few days later. :)

As tedr says, I’d up the temp to around 25C

I seen mix responses due to pH, Temp, Hardness/Softness. Most revolved around 74 degrees and up.

Being as they are a fish that enjoys planted cover, I have substrate on my breeding tank because it is heavily planted. I also keep a dark substrate on my fry tank to help keep them at ease.
