This is the king of my 20-gallon tank, a male Golden Wonder Panchax (Aplocheilus lineatus).

There’s also a video of him in action here. At the end, the female swims to join him but he chases her away (he does that a lot). The males of this species are much more colorful than the females.

I dont know how i missed this post but that fish is stunning, how large is it? i beleive they reach around 4 inches, is that right?? A couple of them would look fantastic in my livingroom tank.

Yeah it is an interesting fish. The male I have is about 3 inches, and the female 2.5 inches long. There are no territorial issues, but sometimes the male aggresively chases the female around. I read somewhere that if you have more females, it reduces this kind of “bullying”.

Oh yes, the “catfish”… they are corydoras, and I have a mixture of varieties… one day I’ll try to get them to line up for a group photo… they don’t get very big so are perfect for my tank.

I think they are great, if a little boisterous.

This is one of mine taken a while back

Yesterday I went into Petco and they have a bunch for like $2.50 each. I’m seriously considering getting one but the only tank I have is a 5 gallon, is that a decent enough size or just way to small?

Too small… they sprint from end to end quite often in my 20-gallon tank with hardly any effort. 5 gallons would be cramped quarters IMHO.
