    Hi everyone,

Im picking up around 20 Celestichthys margaritatus on Saturday from a breeder in Gießen Germany. Will take me around 2 hours to get there so im taking a polystyrene box and a heatpack.
Ive checked all 20-30 LFS within a 100km radius with no success (the shopowners excuse is that they are too expensive to sell to the general public) Im picking up F1 stock at around €3 each.

Sorry for the newbie question… but is F1 the wild-caught generation, or is that F0? And does anybody ever say F0, or what do they say?

F0 is Wild caught Or the start of a new line, F1 first generation, F2 fry from F1 line etc etc…

Ive just realised ive not introduced myself, My names Peter, im married with 2 teenage daughters (nightmare dont ask :D ) Im english but live and work in Germany

Ive been keeping mainly cichlids for the last 25 years, but since i saw the Microrasbora sp. ‘Galaxy’ at last years Duisberg fish-fair ive been mad about it. My fishroom has 2 600L Aquariums and 19 112L aquariums.

What im trying now is a breending setup for Microrasbora sp. ‘Galaxy’ using 12 L tanks per pair keeping the pair in there for a maximum of 5 days them returing them to the main setup.

    Hi again,

I havent got a digicam at the moment ive wished for a DSLR camera for my birthday (40 in November) so once ive got it i hope theres server space for the photos :D

I just checked one of our Freshwater shrimp sites and found out that someones selling 9 Wild Caught (F0) Celestichthys margaritatus as well, i hope i was the first to pn and email, id pick them up like tomorrow if i was.

Im hoping to bring a big enough gene pool into my project and have enough aquariums to house them. With 9 W/C and 20 F1 from someone else id have to select carefully not wanting to mate brother with sister etc.

Ohh Forgot to say the cichlid i keep are mainly Julidochromis speices from the Lake Tanganjika, i have J. Transcriptus Gombi, J. Transcriptus Kissi, J. Ornatus “Yellow”, J. Ornatus Albino, J. Regani Kipili. Im trying to get a few more different locations but its not easy.

Im also a Moderator on the German Forum http://www.cichlidenwelt.de

    Mfg Peter

Nice. There’s always space on the server for fish photos, don’t worry. And if we run out, I’ll make sure there’s more…

Oops, I just remembered that with this type of forum setup, there’s no way to upload files to the server though. You’ll have to host it someplace else (Photobucket? Imageshack?) and link to it from here. Sorry, that’s how it goes…

Ah all hard water african cichlids, i would love to try these but as my water from the tap is soft and slightly acidic i stick to mainly south american dwarfs and west African dwarfs.. i am currently breeding..

    Pelvicachromis Taeniatus..Bipindi
    Pelvicachromis Pulcher
    Nannacara Anomala
Microgeophagus ramirezi..Some call this the German blue ram- however this implies that the germans breed better fish than me and i am not having that- Mine are called Ste’s English blue rams
    Apistogramma Borelli
    Apistogramma Hongsloi
And i have just picked up some very rare in the trade Nannacara Adoketa.
