So, for those without fry: :)

You set up your tank for breeding galaxies, been trying to do everything right: feeding them good, imitating their habitat, changing water regularily, watching anxiously and so on.

How long has the wait been?

I tried last weekend spawning them with the bare tank method, im still waiting!!!!!!
As soon as they get near the breeding tank they lose colour and hide. It is not my water as i also keep Discus and can breed them. I just think they enjoy company and are very nervous. I will try again when i have a breeding tank spare as they are all now filled with fry. Anyone want any pencilfish, rams or nannacara anomala just give me a shout lol.

    Hello,

Ive got what i think are 3 males and 3 females (that share a tank with a baby golden pencilfish lol) half the tank is covered in what i can only describe as grass and the other half has cabomba and jave moss. I’ve had the fish for approx 2months now and they dont seem to be doing anything at all. Are they really as easy as people say they are to breed?

    cheers

they where for me and others – i dont do nothing special for them either except feed llive food each day

to get more answers you are probably best of creating a new thread in the breeidng section

however if you look through a few threads you might be able to pick up a few tips

Thanks for that Chris, ive made another topic in the feeding section, as mine hardly ever seem to eat, live food or not, so i guess really ive got to get them eating before they will breed. Thanks again

i have yet to breed these beautiful fish. i have wild caught CPD, will this make it any more difficult to breed them??

no sign of breeding behavior at all. i think the fact that the fish store i got them off gave me 11, but 7/8 are male! :(

99% + of galaxies sold are wild caught, so there’s a good chance they are. But people here and elsewhere have gotten theirs to breed just fine despite that.

as atlantis_child said most are wild caught

im alost 100% sure mine are however thers no way of telling unless you ask the shop you got them from

ive breed well over 25 and other members have also breed alot more than that so it is possable

how long have you had them?
